PE Single Screw Extruder
The PE Single Screw Extruder is the main extrusion unit for continuously processing polyethylene into pipes, profiles, sheets and other PE products. The screw conveys, melts, plasticizes and meters the polymer before delivering the melt to the extrusion die.
The available range covers 50–150 mm screw diameters, with 33:1 or 38:1 L/D ratios and reference outputs of approximately 200–1,500 kg/h, depending on the model and processing conditions. The correct machine should be selected according to the PE grade, product dimensions, required output and downstream equipment rather than screw diameter alone.
Key Product Features
Screw and Barrel Configuration
The screw and barrel directly affect material conveying, melting, plasticization and melt delivery. 38CrMoAlA and bimetallic configurations are available according to the processing requirement.
The screw geometry and L/D ratio are selected according to the material and application. Available 33:1 and 38:1 L/D ratios provide different processing lengths for melting and homogenizing PE before the material enters the die.
For buyers comparing suppliers, screw diameter alone does not provide enough information. Screw design, L/D ratio, motor power, screw speed and die resistance all influence actual extrusion performance.
PLC and HMI Control
The extrusion system uses PLC + HMI control for centralized operation and monitoring. Operators can view key machine conditions and adjust operating parameters through the control interface.
Temperature control is particularly important in PE processing. Maintaining the required barrel temperature helps keep the polymer in a consistent melt condition before it reaches the die.
Drive and Transmission Options
Depending on the selected configuration, the extruder can use Siemens or SIMO main motors, with Transcyko or SUNLUNG gearbox options. Electrical components can be configured with Siemens, Schneider or ABB options according to project requirements.
The final component configuration should be confirmed in the technical specification before production. This gives buyers a clear reference for electrical compatibility, maintenance and spare-parts planning.
Manufacturing and Quality Control
Machine production involves CNC machining, laser cutting, laser welding and dynamic balancing equipment.
CNC machining is used for components requiring controlled machining dimensions. Laser cutting and welding are used for fabricated machine structures and related components. Dynamic balancing is applied to relevant rotating components to control imbalance before operation.
After mechanical assembly and electrical installation, the machine is inspected and tested before shipment. The testing scope can include mechanical operation, screw and gearbox operation, main motor running, barrel heating, temperature control, PLC/HMI functions and electrical control functions.
For buyers, these checks provide a practical opportunity to identify assembly or operating issues before the machine is shipped. The final inspection and acceptance scope should be agreed in the technical specification.

Typical Applications
PE Pipe Extrusion
The extruder supplies continuous PE melt to the pipe die and can be integrated with vacuum sizing, cooling, haul-off and cutting equipment.
Key selection factors include pipe outside diameter, wall thickness, PE grade, production speed and target output.
PE Profile Extrusion
For PE profiles, consistent melt delivery is important because changes in temperature and extrusion pressure can influence profile dimensions and surface quality.
The extruder can be matched with the required profile die, calibration, cooling and cutting equipment according to the product specification.
PE Sheet Extrusion
For PE sheet production, the extruder works with a suitable sheet die and downstream cooling, calendering and haul-off equipment.
Sheet width, thickness, material grade and target output should be confirmed before determining the appropriate extruder configuration.
FAQ
Request a Technical Evaluation
Send the PE material specification, finished-product dimensions, target output and production speed for an initial evaluation. If an existing die or downstream line is available, include its specifications as well.
The appropriate extruder model, screw diameter, L/D ratio, motor power and supporting equipment can then be evaluated against the actual production requirement.
