What are the consequences of improper extruder temperature control?

1. Product quality problems
Poor plasticization of materials: When the temperature is too low, the material cannot be fully melted, resulting in a rough surface, bubbles or unmelted particles inside the product, affecting the mechanical properties and appearance quality of the product.
Material decomposition or burning: When the temperature is too high, the material may overheat and decompose, causing discoloration, odor, scorch marks and other problems, seriously reducing the quality of the product.
Dimensional instability: Temperature fluctuations can cause inconsistent product size and shape, affecting the accuracy and consistency of the product.
2. Equipment damage
Accelerated wear of parts: Excessive temperature will increase the thermal stress of parts such as screws and barrels, accelerate their wear and aging, and shorten the service life of the equipment.
Mold deformation: High temperature may cause deformation of mold steel and affect the dimensional accuracy of the product.
Mechanical failure: Improper temperature control may cause overheating of mechanical parts, increase friction, and even cause mechanical failure.
3. Reduced production efficiency
Increased energy consumption: When the temperature is too high or too low, the cooling system or heating system needs to work extra to maintain the temperature, increasing energy consumption.
Unstable discharging: Unreasonable temperature control can lead to uneven or intermittent discharging, affecting production efficiency.
Frequent shutdowns: Abnormal temperature may cause the equipment to shut down frequently for adjustment or maintenance, reducing production efficiency.
4. Safety hazards
Risk of combustion or explosion: Excessive temperature may cause plastic to burn or explode, posing a risk of injury to operators or even causing a fire.
5. Environmental impact
Material decomposition products: Excessive temperature may cause the material to decompose, releasing harmful gases (such as hydrogen chloride), which may corrode the equipment and the environment.
