How it works

The Two Screw Extruder operates by transporting, melting, mixing, and shaping plastic materials. Plastic resin is loaded into a hopper at one end of the extruder. From there, it enters the barrel, which includes two screws that rotate in the same or opposite direction.
As the screws rotate, the resin moves along the barrel. The rotation of the screws exerts a combination of shear, compression, and kneading forces on the resin. These forces cause the resin to melt as a result of friction and the barrel's external heating.
The screw movement fully mixes and homogenizes the molten resin. This mixing is essential for maintaining consistent product quality, particularly when adding additives or blending various polymers.
Finally, the well-mixed and molten resin is driven through a die at the barrel's end to form the material's ultimate shape, which may be a tube, profile, sheet, or film. The extruded product is cooled and consolidated to produce the required end product.
